Cox Consulting are a multidisciplinary team of engineering and safety consultants located in Kildare, but covering the greater Dublin area, providing cost effective, personalized construction, engineering and safety services to architects, semi-state organisations, developers, building firms, farmers, hospitals, the legal profession and private individuals since 2003. Cox Consulting is owned and operated by James Cox and Maria Kenny.

James Cox, B.E. M.I.E.I a civil and structural engineering graduate of University College Dublin, founded this practice in 2003. James's career started with one of Ireland's largest civil building contractors where he gained vast experience in numerous engineering and management roles, ranging from site engineer to contracts director on projects such as Kildare Council & Kildare Retail Village. In 2006 James founded Cox Construction which builds energy efficient, one-off, bespoke homes for clients. As a consulting engineer James works extensively with architects, solicitors, building contractors, businesses and private home owners in the areas of project management, structural surveying, planning, structural design, inspection of works, certification of compliance with planning or building reg's, mapping and dispute resolution. With almost two decades experience in designing, constructing and inspecting structures, James has unrivaled knowledge and expertise as a consulting engineer.

Maria Kenny, M.Sc. Occupational Health and Safety, M.Agr.Sc., is also graduate of UCD. Maria works with a wide range of clients to help business owners ensure compliance in the area of health, safety & welfare, regardless of business or project size . Specialist sectors include construction, agriculture, equine and retail sectors.

FIMA DEVELOPMENTS

Design and Certification

FIMA Developments approached Cox Consulting to seek assistance in the design of structural steel in a project they were undertaking. Cox Consulting carried out the design and certification of the steel required for the structural steel installed by FIMA Developments.

Cox Consulting have worked with Kevin Kelly Interiors on numerous design projects both new build & refurbishments of houses. Cox Consulting have consulted on the integrity of existing structures prior to works commencing, provided design solutions to remedy structural issues, designed and certified steel installed.

Pre Purchase Survey of House

Cox Consulting recently conducted a survey of a property I was interesting in buying. James inspected the entire property thoroughly, and produced a report which outlined the condition of the interior and exterior of the property. Areas which were in need of repair or attention were highlighted to me, James outlined the work that would be required to remedy any areas of concern, and provided projected costs for this work. The report on the property was detailed, easy to understand, highlighted potential areas where costs might be incurred if I purchased the property, and helped greatly in my ultimate decision on the property.

CURRAGH RACECOURSE TRAINING GROUNDS

Gallop Design

Cox Consulting have worked with the Curragh Training Grounds for a number of years on gallop design and management. Our services to this client included surveying and reporting on the condition of existing gallops - sand, grass, synthetic surface, and working closely with Curragh management to design, manage the tender process, prepare preliminary health and safety plans, and project manage the redevelopment of a number of their gallops including the Old Vic, Stepaside, the jumping gallop, and the poly track.

NEWBRIDGE PARISH CENTRE

Project Management of Refurbishment of Parish Centre

Cox Consulting project managed the refurbishment of the Newbridge Parish Centre in conjunction with centre management. Our role included the design of structural elements of the refurbishment, management of the tendering process, inspection visits, supervision and budget management to ensure the project was delivered on time and within budget.
